Have you ever wondered whether your biological age reflects the number of years since you were born?
Our chronological age is simply the number of years we have lived. Epigenetic age provides a different perspective, based on specific biological markers associated with changes in our DNA.
What is epiAge™?
epiAge™ analyses specific DNA methylation markers from a saliva sample to estimate your epigenetic age.
The test is designed for adults aged 25 and over and compares your chronological age with your estimated biological or epigenetic age.
The process is simple and convenient:
A saliva sample is collected.
The sample is sent to the laboratory for analysis.
Your chronological age is compared with your estimated epigenetic age.
Results are usually available within 2–4 weeks after the sample reaches the laboratory.
What can influence biological age?
Epigenetic age can be influenced by a range of factors, including lifestyle, nutrition, physical activity, stress and environmental influences.
This makes epigenetic testing an interesting tool for people who want to gain a broader insight into aspects of their health and lifestyle.
The test can also be repeated after several months. This may allow you to compare results over time and see whether changes in your lifestyle are reflected in your epigenetic age.
